Program News

We want all children to have a
happy smile! In recognition of the importance of good oral health, we
want to make sure that every child has the opportunity for a dental
screening each year. Stanford Medical Doctors, who are in the
pediatric residency program at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, will
be visiting the classrooms to provide dental screenings!!
- Recently
one of the Family Child Care Providers that we partner with was
accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young
Children. This is an important event as it indicates that she is
running a program of the highest quality possible. Aileeh
Vilchez is located in San Mateo and has been a Family Child Care
Provider with us since 1998. In fact, she has been with IHSD
since the first day of our Family Child Care program! She is
also a former Head Start parent. We are very proud of her and
grateful to have been on this journey with her, from getting her
initial license to supporting her hard work through the accreditation
process. There are not many accredited Family Child Care
programs in San Mateo
and we are so happy for her!
IHSD
values the engagement of fathers and male caregivers in the lives of
children. To kick-off the new program year, the program received a small
grant from the National Fatherhood Initiative. All program options
will be shortly receiving Daddy Packs, a resource guide with a CD-rom and
information, to be given to all fathers and male caregivers. We look
forward to continuing to support male involvement through our all our
program options.
