IHSD Teacher Ana Faleschini shares her thoughts on starting another new school year.

***

As I look back when I was a little girl, I recall many beautiful memories that I cherish from my childhood. My family allowed me to be a little explorer and gave me the opportunity to learn while I played. I can recall many different experiences that gave me pieces of knowledge as a child. Playing in the backyard making mud cakes using nothing but my hands is one of my favorite memories. Thanks to my family, I can say that I had a real opportunity to enjoy a precious early stage in my life, and that will always bring joy to my life.

I always knew that I would enjoy the opportunity to work with children. I felt that way especially towards little ones that do not have the luxuries of a safe community, a loving family, healthy home and freedom to explore to enjoy their childhood to their fullest. I wanted to work with children to guide, inspire and help them acquire the tools needed to be on a path for success.

Every day, I confirm that IHSD is a very special place reflected in the smiles and laughs of the children and the gratitude painted the faces of their families.

I was very excited when I first learned about IHSD. Their mission is to reach diverse children and families, provide a safe, respectful and nurturing environment, and create partnerships with community organizations who have the same goal in mind. IHSD aims to see a child grow healthy as a whole. I was very impressed to learn about the agency’s passion when I volunteered, and I can say that was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I have been part of the IHSD family for the past five years and have learned a tremendous amount from the children, families, colleagues, and peers. Every day, I confirm that IHSD is a very special place reflected in the smiles and laughs of the children and the gratitude painted the faces of their families. As a teacher, it brings me great joy when I see children’s curiosities in the different lessons throughout the year. These rich experiences we provide in our classroom environments are priceless. They will stay in the child’s brain as each student grows. Because of the neuro connections that we are helping build, I feel honored to collaborate with so many caring and talented “brain architects” at IHSD.

This school year, I look forward to empowering our children and families with knowledge, kindness, and respect. I would like to thank the management team for putting together a very informative and inspirational training event for all of us to kick off the 2019-2020 school year. I am inspired to highlight the success story for each of our children. I also reflected on my practice as a teacher, which reaffirmed the chance to create rich, interactive, fun, and educational experiences that promote a love for learning.

Let’s have a successful school year together!
