IHSD staff will be participating in two new research projects beginning this program year.  First, we will be partnering with Napa County Office of Education to look more closely at how effective a new assessment tool called DRDP- Access is.  This tool is designed primarily for children who are diagnosed with special needs.  However, it is appropriate for all children and will be utilized at our Head Start sites in Daly City, Half Moon Bay, South San Francisco and San Mateo.  Secondly, we will be participating in the “Watch Me grow” project through First Five San Mateo County.  This project will focus on comprehensive developmental and family screenings, referrals for children and families to connect with appropriate supports, and mental health consultation and support.  Fist Five has invited the North County Home Based Specialists, South San Francisco Head Start and Baden Infant Center to participate.  We are very excited to participate in both of these projects and look forward to continuing our partnership in the future.
