Career
Development
We
understand that providing continual professional growth for our
staff ensures our program quality. Therefore, we make staff development
and career enhancement a
top priority.
Career development elements at IHSD include:
- Staff development days:
Teachers attend monthly training sessions, where there are opportunities
to learn and interact with staff from other sites.
- Site-based support:
Peer coaching, individualized
training, small group sessions, and mentoring are available at
IHSD sites.
- Staff development plans:
Staff members are encouraged to create staff development plans
based on their own training needs and professional growth ambitions.
Supervisors, program specialists, and consultants assist staff
in reaching their goals
- Off-site training:
Funding is available for
staff to attend professional conferences and workshops on an ongoing
basis.
- Technical assistance:
IHSD provides on-site training and technical assistance in
topics related to early childhood education, special education,
health and nutrition, family services, and program management.
- College coursework: With
tuition and textbook reimbursements, stipends, and paid and unpaid
leave opportunities, IHSD supports staff enrolled in child development,
early education, or other educational programs appropriate to
the employee’s position.
- Mentor-teacher program:
New teachers are paired with experienced teachers who provide
support and guidance and offer feedback, allowing new teachers
to learn and grow and giving experienced teachers a chance to
develop their leadership skills.
